I'll begin this post with a little bit of the background of Lombard Street. It was constructed in 1922 to slow down traffic through that part of the city as well as reduce the hill's grade. It consists of one block with 8 very sharp turns. The recommended speed limit is only 5 MPH. Along the sides of the street, many of the city's most expensive house are located here.
Now continuing on to my story - when I was about four years old we visited San Francisco for the second time. It was a really neat trip. We stayed right down the street from the Crookedest Street, so every morning we would get up and walk down the street. At four years old that was the coolest thing in the world - a crooked street with lots of colorful flowers. It was awesome.
